Zack, better known as Zacky, is a capuchin monkey from South America and therefore cannot be released into the wild. He has been living with us on the farm alongside his partner Coco since 2012 – the two of them were actually our very first animals and thus the beginning of it all.

Zacky is an incredibly lively and expressive character. When he’s happy, he shows it loudly and with great enthusiasm – sometimes even with little ‘hugs’ that are simply infectious. His energy and zest for life are evident every single day.

A very special quirk of capuchin monkeys is their ‘onion bath’: with great dedication, they rub onions into their fur – not just for grooming, but above all to keep insects at bay. They also treat their food with astonishing care: fruit and vegetables are often washed briefly in their water bowl before being eaten with relish.

With their prehensile tails, they are true artists – it’s always a little spectacle to watch them walk upright, carrying food in both hands whilst simultaneously transporting something with their tails.

Zacky and Coco are particularly fond of eggs, which they skilfully crack open and drink, as well as nuts and fresh fruit – especially bananas, grapes and watermelon. A real treat for them is porridge with peanut butter.
