Vaalie’s story
Vaalie came to us in 2017 as a fully-grown female monkey, having already lived in a human environment for many years. This early and long-term socialisation made it impossible for her to return to the wild – today she has found her place at the sanctuary.
Together with Stevie, she forms our harmonious ‘grandparent couple’. Vaalie is now an elderly lady, which is evident here and there – particularly in her teeth, which are no longer in the best condition. Yet that doesn’t stop her from enjoying her life peacefully and contentedly.
She shows her affection in her very own way: intensely, vigorously and sometimes almost a little energetically when grooming – yet full of care and love. By Stevie’s side, she seems completely at home.

How you can support Vaalie
Your monthly contribution helps to ensure she receives food, care and medical treatment. You decide for how many months you’d like to sponsor her, and you can end your sponsorship at any time.
Snack sponsorship – €5 per month
For €5 a month, you can treat Vaalie to special treats such as popcorn, nuts or eggs. Snacks are important for keeping her occupied, for training and for building trust with the carers.
