Popeye is our first rescue dog and our little canine prince. He came to us as a tiny puppy in August 2023 – and from the very first moment, it was impossible to imagine our family without him. Before that, he was one of six sick puppies who had been severely mistreated on the streets of Baberton and eventually ended up in the care of our vet, where his left eye had to be removed – which is how he got his name.
Despite everything, Popeye is full of such a zest for life. He is incredibly lively, curious and always up for a laugh – a little bundle of energy who brightens up every day and never fails to make us smile with his cheerful nature. He’s happiest when playing – whether with balls, sticks or during a boisterous game of tug-of-war. In these moments, his playful, funny side comes to the fore, and it’s simply infectious.
At the same time, he is deeply affectionate and sensitive, with a very tender nature. He seeks closeness with his humans, enjoys any form of comfort and forms a deep, special bond once he has gained confidence.
Popeye embodies such light-heartedness, gentleness and trust – a little fighter with a huge heart, who reminds us every day just how healing love can be.
