Hey, I'm Rosey!

Rosey’s story

Rosey is one of our adorable pot-bellied pigs and came to us from a neighbouring farm at the end of 2024. Since then, she has been living here completely freely and can actually be found just about anywhere – especially wherever there’s something to eat.

She loves being stroked, happily flops down in the grass and enjoys every bit of attention. She’s particularly happy in her mud-hole, where she can wallow to her heart’s content. Sometimes she even accompanies our volunteers all the way to the chalets and loves nothing more than to sleep cosily underneath them.

In true pig fashion, Rosey also works hard to track down anything edible – nothing stays where it is for long. She’s particularly keen on trying to help herself to our horse Sahara’s feed. She can get quite aggressive in the process and makes it very clear, in no uncertain terms, when she’s not allowed to eat – with an indignant squeal that everyone on the farm can hear. But she certainly won’t go hungry here.

In August 2025, she had piglets, and her daughter Peppa now lives with her on the farm too – the two of them are an inseparable team.

It’s a bit of a spectacle every morning: when everyone gathers round the feeding area for breakfast and tries to get as much as possible, a lively, almost chaotic interplay begins – a joy to watch and full of life.
