Sahara is an elderly mare with a very special charisma. She came to us in September 2024 after her previous owner no longer wanted her. She’s long since past the point of being ridden – but that’s not really the point anyway.
Today she lives freely, just as her nature intended. On 52 hectares of land, she roams about as a true free spirit, exploring every nook and cranny and following her own rhythm. She even has her own little clique – and sometimes she joins the wild Blessböcke, creating a wonderfully quirky, almost humorous group that roams the open countryside together.
She’s particularly fond of carrots, apples and bananas – she’ll drop everything for them and show her very own, charming side.
It’s a quiet, touching moment to watch her from the lodge at sunset – trotting light-footed, the warm evening air all around her, completely at one with herself.
Sahara is enjoying her final years with exactly what every living creature deserves: freedom, love and self-determination.
